Accused Harasser Inquired: 'But What If I Might Be Madeleine?'
A woman charged with harassing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a recorded message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly asserted she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, the court was told call records and evidence obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported missing child cases and is still unresolved.
'I Do Not Need Money'
A separate voicemail, shared in court, recorded Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I know what I feel."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "What if there is a tiny probability that I am she? What then? Isn't that crucial for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I only wish to know," she added.
The tribunal was informed that via electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who compiled the data, informed the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted family friends of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.
On 9 October 2024, the father answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my point."
The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in that winter.
Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the period before the visit to the village, that area, in December 2024.
The court was told correspondence between the two accused, in November 2024, discussing trying to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from cutlery at a eating establishment.
"We must assert ourselves," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.
On the occasion of the appearance to their residence, Mrs Spragg transmitted a communication which stated: "We find ourselves sat near the McCanns' home with our lights out similar to detectives. I had hoped to do this with someone else I never thought I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
The proceedings proceeds.
