Preview the Reimagined Classic Journey: This Free Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Lands Soon.
Players looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. A highly anticipated demo version is set to go live on Jan. 7, providing a sizable look into the game's beginning segments. Notably, any advancement achieved within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the full game upon its February release.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Remake: A Complete Reimagining
This title represents a from-scratch reimagining of the iconic year 2000 role-playing game, initially titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable departure from recent series remakes, such as the previously launched HD-2D versions, this remake adopts a charming three-dimensional art style. The world are designed to resemble detailed dioramas, with protagonists featuring a appealing stylized design.
"Taking into account the 3DS remake, the story was still quite lengthy. Therefore, we reached a conclusion that we wanted to condense the story, [and] craft an experience for modern gamers."
Key Gameplay Enhancements and Modernizations
The creators have added several modernizations to refresh the classic gameplay loop. These include:
- Streamlined Overworld Encounters: Taking a cue from modern role-playing games, low-level foes can now be defeated directly on the exploration screen without initiating a full traditional battle sequence.
- Adjustable Battle Pace: Players can speed up battle sequences to rapidly power through less challenging fights.
- New Vocation Mechanics: A completely new job class has been created for this remake. Additionally, characters gain the capacity to take on a secondary job, significantly enhancing customization possibilities.
Such changes are designed to address one of the 2000 title's common points of feedback: its considerable length. The initial main quest was known to require over 100 hours to complete. The reimagined edition was expressly designed to improve flow and reduce any repetition.
