This sun-drenched cooking retreat, based at a villa by the river in the central Portuguese region, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Attendees will master the art of selection of small dishes, attend a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses including a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. This energetic camp is an uplifting, welcoming weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a high-energy group warmup, followed by three 90-minute classes covering different urban dance forms, then an hour-long jam to show off new moves. Participants are split into levels according to ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to popping and locking, right up to experienced performers or teachers. This event doesn’t include accommodation but there are several places to stay within walking distance, and it is under an hour by rail into London.

Maritime Singing Break in Cornwall

St Ives is the excellent location for a sea shanty weekend. Participants will learn historic sailing songs from a experienced musician, and have a go at composing original ones. The schedule includes voice exercises, breath control techniques, performance tips and a final evening concert. The holiday is held in a rural hotel overlooking the bay. Full board are provided, such as a traditional tea on arrival, breakfast options, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Traditional rum, alas, is not included. Writer and lecturer Greg Mosse conducts the regular sessions on this authors' getaway. He covers everything from story structure, character development, locations and suspense, to sending manuscripts to agents.
