Texas Attorney General Paxton is taking legal action against the makers of Tylenol, asserting the companies hid alleged dangers that the drug created to children's neurological development.

The lawsuit follows thirty days after Donald Trump promoted an unsubstantiated connection between taking acetaminophen - referred to as paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism spectrum disorder in young ones.

Paxton is suing J&J, which previously sold the drug, the exclusive pain medication suggested for women during pregnancy, and Kenvue, which currently produces it.

In a statement, he stated they "deceived the public by making money from suffering and promoting medication regardless of the dangers."

Kenvue states there is lacking scientific proof tying Tylenol to autism spectrum disorder.

"These corporations deceived for years, deliberately risking countless individuals to boost earnings," the attorney general, from the Republican party, stated.

The company said in a statement that it was "very worried by the perpetuation of misinformation on the security of acetaminophen and the possible consequences that could have on the well-being of US mothers and children."

On its official site, the company also said it had "regularly reviewed the relevant science and there is no credible data that shows a proven link between using acetaminophen and autism."

Organizations acting on behalf of medical professionals and healthcare providers agree.

The leading OB-GYN organization has stated paracetamol - the main ingredient in Tylenol - is one of the few options for expectant mothers to manage pain and elevated temperature, which can create significant medical dangers if not addressed.

"In more than two decades of research on the utilization of paracetamol in pregnancy, zero credible investigations has conclusively proven that the consumption of acetaminophen in any trimester of pregnancy leads to neurological conditions in young ones," the group stated.

This legal action cites current declarations from the previous government in claiming the drug is reportedly hazardous.

Recently, the former president caused concern from public health officials when he advised pregnant women to "fight like hell" not to take Tylenol when sick.

The FDA then published an announcement that doctors should consider limiting the usage of Tylenol, while also stating that "a causal relationship" between the medication and autism spectrum disorder in minors has remains unverified.

Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, who supervises the FDA, had vowed in April to initiate "a massive testing and research effort" that would establish the origin of autism spectrum disorder in a short period.

But experts warned that discovering a sole reason of autism spectrum disorder - believed by scientists to be the result of a intricate combination of inherited and environmental factors - would not be simple.
