The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating chaos and madness with the same excitement, all while weaving gripping, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have represented all of those qualities.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a new setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX family always encourages me with their steady belief and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared bold, ambitious approach to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
