Tottenham Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Raise Pressure on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "they cannot be true Spurs supporters" by boss Frank.

Spurs conceded two goals in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League at home defeat of 2025.

But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when the keeper lost the ball well outside his area.

The goalkeeper came out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

King laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to the keeper once more, some Tottenham fans jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those booing sessions really irritated the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' reaction to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I certainly understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He is a great team player, he is a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It is Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italy national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

He stated following the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"The second score was a mistake of my own, I accept responsibility for that," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger mountain to climb."

He stated being booed "comes with football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on the team to stay increasingly calm, to focus on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and calmness to reverse results. Today is a poor defeat and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second longest-range Premier League goal of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally too came on Saturday.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty net to target.

10 seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the box for ages," he remarked.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them covered the net, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a bit of additional opportunity. After that it was all about trying to make the right contact and place it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

While Vicario's mistake led headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.

The match was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint club statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders Liverpool to come prior to the end of the year.

Only one of those victories have occurred after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have suffered another game. Every game has a unique story, today we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully something we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have lost 4 straight home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 shots and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on record in a one season (since at least 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must take the stick," the pundit said. "He has accepted a high profile job at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
