This event resulted in the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the multi-storey parking facility.

Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a luggage theft where a suspected irritant spray resulted in harm at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and charges for deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their luggage taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.

A toddler was among those injured in the event. Several persons went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

The incident – described by police as was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
